The Nida Art Colony is pleased to welcome the January 2012 residents: Cécile B. Evans, Heidi Hove, Lissa Holloway-Attaway, Jurga Daubaraitė.

Cécile B. Evans is an interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin. Her work, often taking the form of videos and performances, focuses on the proof of experience and emotions, their production and representation within society. She sources material from the industries that serve to explain experience, often science, film, or the internet, products of culture.

Heidi Hove is an interdisciplinary artist from Denmark. Her work highlights the presence or absence of cross cultural differences and the distinctions between public and private space. Her work is often humorous, insightful and simple, and takes the form of interventions, archives and installations. She is also running with partners a small artists space in Copenhagen - Koh-i-noor.org

Lissa Holloway-Attaway is a researcher/artist from Sweden. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Blekinge Institute of Technology. She has a background in performance and theater and a doctorate in English with a focus on digital media. Her current projects are related to the Digital Art Platform and the Telling the Baltic initiatives within the Artline Project that engage digital mapping, storytelling, and touch-screen narratives.

Jurga Daubaraitė is a Lithuanian architecture researcher and curator. In her present body of work she is exploring spatial memory in post-Kolkhoz villages. By focusing on abandoned buildings from the Soviet era and the stories of local fishermen in Neringa she hopes to produce a narrative that speaks from the ruins of recent history.

The Colony is also pleased to introduce a new staff member. Yulia Startsev from Canada will be joining the Colony as an intern from January until the end of May to assist with the artist residencies and events.
