About The Nida Colony Library is a newly established collection of printed and digital material aimed at providing the critical and intellectual basis regarding Nida as a place for artists & curators working at the colony. It also functions as a spring board for students of the Vilnius Academy of Art, and from schools abroad, who come to study at the Nida Art Colony during the Summer/Winter workshops. The initial collection was curated by Virginija Januskevičiutė and developed by Vytautas Michelkevičius and Rasa Antanavičūtė

The aim of these books is to introduce colony residents to intellectual ideas that compliment the landscape of the Curonian Spit and challenge the artists to critically engage with their surroundings. As a supplement to these ten key volumes, several periodicals, series and other books are held. The library also functions as an archive of artist books, projects and printed matter that have been developed by past A-I-R and Workshop participants. Borrowing Materials The materials in the Library must stay within the Colony Area. While we are still working on our circulation policy, we ask that books be taken out for a week at a time and returned, so that other residents can also use the materials. Donating Materials Since this is a new collection, we are actively seeking new materials to broaden and improve our library.
